The New Graduated Swing Lesson Plan

 Revision In Progress

The Key Segments of the Graduated Swing

My lesson plan isolates five key segments of the golf swing: the mini swing (or hitting area), the half follow-through, the full follow-through, the half backswing, and the full backswing. These segments establish a logical progression that is easy to follow. You will be using a valuable checkpoint system by which you will know immediately whether or not you are in the correct position.

Because of the fundamental nature of the this approach, the following pages should prove useful to golfers on all levels—the beginner who has never held a club before, the high-handicap player who must change his or her swing to improve their game permanently, and the good player search-ing for a simpler way to identify, locate, and remedy an error, Golf would really be an easier game to learn if it were impossible to hit a good shot with a bad swing. If it were, one would always know whether or not one was swinging correctly. The Graduated Swing Lesson Plan is designed to do just that, by making swing fundamentals so familiar that any departure from the standard will feel wrong and can be corrected. Being able to recognize the correct positions at key checkpoints and having the opportunity of returning to them at any time helps to identify an error and eliminate it.

Bear in mind that good golf is not a "do your own thing" game. Every golfer, according to his own size, has a correct or ideal swing pattern. Any deviation from the fundamentals of the golf swing compromises the chances for consistency. Also damaging is the tendency to employ fundamentals in a piecemeal fashion; Hold your head steady"; Keep your left arm straight"; "Start the club-head back low to the ground"; "Finish the swing"; and so on. Although each of these reme¬dies has value, used alone or misused, they rarely help. As a consequence, when on the course, a player will fluctuate between very good days and very bad days. With any kind of swing one can occasionally hit a good shot. But with proper swing fundamentals, play and practice will help achieve a respectable, repeatable, consistent swing. This is what the Graduated Swing is designed to accomplish.

Every day I work with golfers of widely varying skills and I have found that without exception my method of teaching can be applied to all. By using my lesson plan I have helped to build new golf swings, correct and rebuild faulty ones, and improve fundamentally good swings. I am confident that the Graduated Swing Lesson Plan will work equally well for you, regardless of your own personal golfing status, and will speed you along to a better , more rewarding, and more enjoyable golf game.
